I was at work. It was my 21st birthday. I received a call. I had to go to the post office. And there were they: a bouquet of roses and a note without signature. I took the roses. But they died a couple of days after. So I thought I had to do something special with them. I couldn't just throw them. Finally I decided to use them for a new painting. I nailed the roses (yes, with nails) and threw color on them. Dead roses nailed to a canvas. I never knew who it was. This is how I began to use roses in my paintings.
The painting was done in Madrid, in the neighbourhood of La Latina in 2014.
Now, it is in San Sebastián, at my parents' house.
I liked the idea of using roses in my paintings, so I decided to buy plastic flowers and explore new artistic options. I read about a contest in internet and I thought... Why not? And I painted it for the competition. My inspiration? He. He was much older than me. He was mysterious. That kind of person you never know who he really is. Such strange things happen in life. Sometimes, I guess.
This painting was done in Madrid, in La Latina. Of course I didn't win the contest but it was a good experience. Now, the painting is at the place of one of my best friends :)
